Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? PREMIERE

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!
Warning: This blog post contains spoilers. Don't read unless you've watched Episode 1.

Yesterday was the premiere for Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After? Exciting, right? The first episode was an hour long, which wasn't long enough. I've been waiting for this show to go live for months now, as many other Ben and Lauren fans.

Let's recap the episode.

There was A LOT of talk about Jojo... I mean, I think the episode revolved around her. Isn't this show supposed to be about Ben and Lauren? Well, Jojo was mentioned throughout the whole episode.

Ben and Lauren were out grocery shopping when a lady stopped them and started asking questions that involved Jojo. Lauren looked so upset. Can't we all get past that? Ben picked Lauren. End of discussion.

Then we catch them lounging on their couch at home while binge watching Jojo's season of The Bachelorette. Awkward.............. As they're watching Jojo's season, all Jojo seems to talk about is Ben. Ben. Ben. Ben. And you guessed it right, Ben! I love Jojo. She's such an amazing woman and I'm so happy she found love, but she compared everything to BEN!

Then, the producers of The Bachelor/ette invite Ben and Lauren to Jojo's After the Final Rose. Seriously? They just can't get Jojo out of their lives. Give them a break. They're trying to settle down and make a life for themselves, but they can't do that if Jojo is a topic of every conversation. I feel bad for them. I feel really bad for Lauren.

And I forgot to mention... Jojo CALLS Ben while him and Lauren are out to dinner. WTF?!? That's a huge no no! She should've called Lauren. She wants Ben and Lauren to double date with her and Jordan. Uhm, are you trying to make things awkward, Jojo?

Lauren seemed a bit... bratty and stuck up on episode one of the show. I hope that's now how she is all the time... Maybe it's just because of all this Jojo talk. We'll find out more in episode two. Hopefully things change.

It wasn't all bad! Lauren did a prank on Ben. She put toothpaste on an Oreo and he ate it. *Laughing* And Lauren and The Twins decided to try to put in a new toilet on their own. *More Laughing* They should've never attempted that. Ben to the rescue!

Don't miss episode two on Tuesday, October 18th at 8/7c on Freeform. Ben and Lauren double date with Jojo and Jordan. This shall be very interesting............................

Happy Birthday, Mummy!

I want to give a very special shout out to my mother. Happy Birthday! I love you so much. I wish you a special and relaxing day.

Thank you for always being there for me. I don't think I thank you enough. You are the best mother a girl could ever ask for. Even though I can be a brat, you still put up with me and I'm thankful.

There's not enough words in the English language to express how grateful I am for you. But, here's me trying.

I remember when I was younger, I always ignored your phone calls (which I apologize for). Now, it's me calling you six billion times a day just to say hi. I always tried to hide things from you when I was younger. Remember that? Well, now I realize you always new the sneaky things I was up to on the weekends and secrets I tried to hide from you. You always looked out for me and taught me lessons that made me a better person.

A bond between a mother and her daughter is eternal, unshakable, and unbreakable.

I'm so happy we share a special bond of laughter, trust, and especially love. I'm thankful for you. You are my best friend, the person who I tell everything to, the person I can't ever lie to, and the person I trust with my life.

I love you more than I love chocolate... and I really really really love chocolate.

Happy Birthday, Mom. I love you more than you'll ever know.

The New Bachelor 2017— Nick Viall

It's official! Nick Viall is the new Bachelor of 2017. He's no longer Mr. Runner-Up.

For those of you who don't know, Nick first appeared on Andi Dorfman's season of The Bachelorette. They fell in love and he was one of the two last men standing. In the end, Nick was runner-up to Josh Murray, who Andi was more in love with.

Then, Nick was given a second chance at love on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season of The Bachelorette. He made it to the end. But, Kaitlyn ended up picking Shawn Booth instead. Again, runner-up. Ouch!

At this point, If I was Nick Viall, I would've given up with the whole "love" thing and everything surrounding The Bachelorette/ Bachelor/ Paradise.

Nick wasn't giving up that easy! Summer 2016, Nick attended Bachelor in Paradise to give love a third shot. From the beginning, Nick had a thing for Amanda Stanton. AWE! Amanda is my favorite! If you've read my previous blog posts, then you know how much I adore her.

As much as we loved them together, Nick's luck ran out. No one was expecting what came next. Josh Murray showed up on the Bachelor in Paradise and stole Amanda Stanton away from Nick. Again? Really? Give the guy a break. Poor Nick!

Nick stuck it out and stayed, still hopeful for love. At that point, I know Bachelor fans wanted him to find his one and only.

Jen Saviano showed up on Bachelor in Paradise just in time. Jen and Nick went out on a date and hit it off. As I was watching, I didn't feel the connection between them. In the end, I was right. Nick didn't get down on one knee and propose to Jen. Instead, he went home alone, once again with a broken heart.

It's safe to say that Nick Viall has had a tough time when it comes to love.

Nick Viall is the new Bachelor of 2017!

That's supposed to be a good thing, right? Some people think so. Others are SO pissed off about it and are sick of seeing Nick Viall. Want to know why? Keep reading.

Luke Pell, from Jojo's season of The Bachelorette, was packed and ready to go to The Bachelor mansion and find his true love. The Bachelor didn't announce it yet, but they already got Luke's hopes up. Everyone was voting for Luke to be the new Bachelor. Everyone was expecting it, especially after how heartbroken Jojo left him when she broke up with him.

At last minute, The Bachelor told Luke that he was NOT going to be flying out to the mansion to find his soulmate. They choose someone else instead.

Nick Viall.

Fans are pissed. I was pissed. Fans are rioting on social media, saying things like:

"We're so sick of seeing him on The Bachelor. Move on."

"He's had his chance at love several times and blew it."

"I refuse to watch his season."

"Luke was more deserving of the spot."

As much as I want Nick to find love, Luke was my number one choice for The Bachelor 2017. I agree, he was more deserving.

The choice has already been made. Nick Viall IS The Bachelor 2017. I wish him all the luck, and am hopeful he will finally find love.

Tune in next year for Nick Viall's season of The Bachelor. I know I am.

Happy National Book Lovers Day!

Happy National Book Lovers Day! If you are a book lover, I'm sure this is your favorite day of the year. I'm going to be posting a bunch of my favorite authors and books. This includes the lovely Indie Authors! Please comment below and let me know your favorites. Let's get started.

____________________________________________________

Nicholas Sparks

This author made me fall in love with romance, and he's one of the reasons why I write it today. A few of my favorites include Dear John, The Rescue, and The Best of Me.

____________________________________________________

Stephanie Meyer

Stephanie made me fall in love with vampires and werewolves. Who isn't in love with sparkly, sexy vampires? I probably read The Twilight Series about 602 times. She's the reason why I write about vampires nowadays in my series The Dark Love Series.

____________________________________________________

Suzanne Collins

The Hunger Games Trilogy was the first Dystopian books I've ever read. This trilogy is the reason why I love that genre so much. Suzanne Collins plotted a unique and eye-catching story.

____________________________________________________

EL James

I owe my love for erotica to two authors, EL James and Deanndra Hall. I'll talk more about Deanndra in the Indie Authors section below. El James blew me away with her amazing trilogy about a billionaire and your everyday normal young woman. "Laters, baby."

____________________________________________________

Kass Morgan

Never knew about this author, still barely don't. But, I must say, her books are absolutely amazing. I watched Season 1 of The 100. I fell in love and wanted to see if there were books. Luckily, there are. I bought all three of them and love them all.

____________________________________________________

Veronica Roth

I'm still working my way through the Divergent Series. Wow oh wow. These books are amazing. I don't know how the hell anyone could come up with such a detailed and crazy dystopian world. Veronica Roth blew it out of the water.

____________________________________________________

J.S. Scott

One of the sweetest authors you will ever meet. J.S. Scott's books are the books to read. Billionaire romances are her thing. I applaud her on how brilliant she is as an author. I'm honored to call her a friend.

____________________________________________________

INDIE AUTHORS
____________________________________________________

Amy L. Gale

I'm happy to say that Author Amy L. Gale is the reason I love rock star romances so much. #TeamVan Not only is she such a great friend and supporter, but she's also an amazing author with amazing books!!!

____________________________________________________

Susan Ward

She is the author of like a million books, including The Half Shell Series and Affair Without End. I'm lucky to call her a friend. Rockstar romances are her thing.

____________________________________________________

Deanndra Hall

As I mentioned above, she's the reason why I love BDSM/erotica books. The first book I ever read from her was Adventurous Me. I had no clue it was erotica and it surprised me once she got deep into the sex scenes. But, I fell in love with this genre and I owe it to Deanndra Hall.

____________________________________________________

Nicholas Tanek

In Nicholas Tanek's book, The Coolest Way To Kill Yourself, no one actually kills themselves. I thought the same thing, but the title is much more than what you think. In this story, it brought me back to the 90's rave scene in detail. I never wanted this story to end. It was like nothing I've ever read before.

____________________________________________________

P. Mattern

P. Mattern writes intense and addicting vampire books. Every book I read from her, I'm never disappointed. She writes other genres like horror.

____________________________________________________

I'm sorry if I missed any other authors. I have so many favorites. As you know, I'm an author, too. I'll leave my link to my books below. Make sure you check out all these amazing authors, including myself! :)

Interview with Author Nik Venture

INTERVIEW WITH AUTHOR NIK VENTURE

Nik Venture has been a professional writer/editor for national magazines for more than a quarter century. Helming seven different magazines he has both won, and judged, numerous writing awards, and his words have reached millions of readers. His travels have taken him around the world on various assignments. When he's not writing fiction under his pen name, he can be found either running, or playing keyboard in various clubs with his rockin' blues band.

Interview:

Tell us about your thriller, The ISIS Lone Wolf Trigger. How did you come up with the plot to this novel?

So many people believe that we are living in the End Times. I thought, therein hangs a story. Who are these people? What goes on in their minds?

According to surveys, 31 percent of Americans believe the “end times” are approaching. With Evangelicals, the numbers rise to 77 percent, and, among Protestants, 54 percent agreed that "the world is currently living in the 'end times' as described by prophecies in the Bible." At least half, or more, Muslims believe they will live to see the return of the Mahdi, a messianic figure they believe will begin the final events of the Muslim calendar.

What if a tiny fraction of those people are unwilling to wait?

For my characters, the prophecies related to Armageddon are clear, if only they could trigger the war that starts it all by blaming Iran for a horrendous act of terrorism. American retaliation would start the dominoes falling. The final battles would begin.

Enter Jack Kant and his girlfriend Angela Bow. They don’t have a lot, but they do have each other. Jack’s a muckraker journalist with an unhealthy compulsion for poking in places where he shouldn’t.  Angela is a resourceful documentary researcher and not above kicking a wiseguy where it hurts.

When Kant visits a sketchy source to return a package of illegally-obtained materials and back out of a story he’s considering, he confronts a parcel deliveryman who slaughters the whistle-blower, his wife, and nearly Kant, to obtain said materials. Kant escapes with the package, but before he can get home, Angela’s six-year-old niece, Kiley, is abducted.

Should he go to the police, even though he’s soon framed as a suspect in the murders? Would they even follow up on one of the odd items in the package -- a brochure about the dangers of natural gas storage facilities with the phrase “55 Hiroshima bombs” circled?

He is drawn into the scariest story of his life, and his obsession with learning secrets demands that he follow up, but what about Kiley? His choices are grim and the world is pressing down on them, more so than he knows, if he doesn’t act there may be no world.

On the run, he and Angela must use all of their ingenuity to outwit unknown adversaries while trying to determine who their friends are, and who would make them patsies in an international conspiracy.

Can you tell us more about the main characters, Jack and Angela?

They are a fun couple with a banter like characters from an old movie. Specifically, as I say in my book description they don’t have a lot, but they do have each other. Jack’s a muckraker journalist with an unhealthy compulsion for poking in places where he shouldn’t. Angela is a resourceful documentary researcher and not above kicking a wiseguy where it hurts.

Every story has a bad guy, who are your bad guys?

Well, this was the most important thing really. Interesting antagonists make or break a thriller. I’ve got two. Three technically, but I can’t say any more without revealing the plot. However, I think I’ve got villains who believe in what they are doing, and you learn why quite clearly, and so they are not stock bad guys, which is just boring to me. I’ve created one villain, not the ISIS guy, that I think not too many authors have tried before. You may be surprised. Maybe I’m wrong, there are a lot of books out there. The thing is, he needs to be believable and you see why as he goes through his motions.

Tell us more about yourself. How long have you been a published author?

I was first published nationally back in (gulp) 1986. I was fresh out of college and I got a gig with a magazine in Los Angeles called The West Coast Review of Books. I was the Managing Editor and wrote book reviews. The magazine featured short 500-800 word reviews and published 100 reviews every issue. It was a circus trying to wrangle so many writers to be on time and then edit it all to a professional standard.

So, seven or eight magazines later, as the Editor in Chief, here I am retired from the magazine industry (which is in the dumps, after the Internet came along) doing what I always wanted to do anyway.

How many books do you have published? Can you tell us about them?

I have two out right now. The ISIS book is my second and it was years in the making. I’m quite proud of it  . . . now, if I can only master the nuances of discoverability. That’s really the hard work in this business. And, despite what you do, a certain amount of luck is certainly involved. If someone had the magic formula for capturing the Zeitgeist, of what will spark readers imagination, they would be sitting on gold. Of course, there is no such formula although people certainly do chase that dragon. Whether it’s vampires or 50 Shades knockoffs people always run after the latest trend. However, the real key is being first. Nobody knows what the “next big thing” is going to be. All you can do is write the best book you know how and make it as engaging as possible and hope for the best. There is a reason why the three act structure works as well as it does and if you write a good book then you know that, even if you are not leading the wave of the hottest trending topic, you will have a happy reader if they do read your book. And maybe that’s the best you can hope for.

Oh yeah, my other book is a comic novel called Office of the Apes. It is a first-person gonzo satire of office life, the publishing industry in particular, and life in Southern California. I set out to write the funniest comic novel ever. As humor is certainly subjective when you aim for the stars and, perhaps, only make it to the moon you’ve still taken quite a leap. I think it has a certain charm that, if people knew about it they would like it. I have no idea how to market it. It is unlike any other book you may have read; it was a very difficult, unique voice to pull off.

Can we expect any more books from you in the near future?

Oh, there will be more. I should be writing right now. Of course, my procrastination button is stuck. I write with passion. They say you can’t wait for your muse . . . and they would be correct. But once you latch onto something you know is a good idea and will make a good story, it is all consuming and draining. But in a good way. I am getting restless and ideas are bubbling, so hopefully not too long. I am hoping readers want more of Jack and Angela.

Tell us more about your rockin’ blues band.

We call ourselves the Dawgs . . . not the best name, but we got about 19 years invested in it, so I guess it stays. We play classic blues and rock. We’re pretty good at it by this point. Our thing is that we don’t try to dupe what’s on the record, we use all the songs as vehicles for improvisation. That’s what it’s all about. On any given night when we’re cooking we’re as good as most anybody, more or less. And that’s the thing with improv, when you’re on, amazing things happen. I will post some songs on my website (nikventure.com) when I unstick my procrastination button. You know what John Lennon said, “Life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans.” It’s a point of reflection we should all consider at some point.

Author by day, keyboardist by night. What other activities do you enjoy doing?

Running, mountain biking, blah, blah, blah. I’m a bore.

What are some of your favorite authors? Did these authors influence your writing? If so, how?

I’m an omnivore. I’ll read anything. If I have to name a few authors I like from a variety of styles: John Updike (for his descriptive magic), John D. MacDonald (brilliant, engaging story teller), Dennis Lehane (gut sensibilities), Ken Follett (textbook teller of thriller tales), Len Deighton (even on a bad day he was better than the rest), Frederick Forsyth (Day of the Jackal. Drops mic). I’m reading Barry Eisler right now. He’s definitely a step above so many of the thriller writers plying their trade in the current marketplace. I definitely liked Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson, the real funniest comic novel ever written. If you liked that book (not the hideous movie) then you will appreciate the Office of the Apes book. His later books never did it for me and he, more or less, lost his chops for the last 30, or so, years of his life, before he put a bullet in his head. (I know many fans will carve me into little pieces for saying shit like that but, if you’re a writer, you just know it. Case closed.)

Any last words to your readers?

How about this? We Love You
